Wedding Photography FAQs

 1. What is your primary style?

I use a mix of styles when I shoot weddings, depending on what the bride and groom prefer as well as the atmosphere of the wedding itself. I use a traditional posed and formal approach in addition to my relaxed and candid approach. I prefer to capture the moments as they happen as well as capturing the important posed moments. What you want is what matters most and I have the ability to capture your wedding in the style that you envision. I like to provide you with a list of the traditional posed shots and have you remove and add shots so as to make sure you get all the important moments captured. This is your day….we are here to capture the moments for you so that you can cherish them for a lifetime.

2. Do you shoot in color or black and white? Do you shoot in a digital format that can create both color and black and white versions of the same photo?

I shoot in a digital format which allows for each photo to be viewed in color, black and white and sepia. While viewing your proofs, either online or with the proof CD, you will be able to view each photo in color, black and white, and sepia so you can see what you like the best.

3. What kind of input can we have on the direction of the shots? Can we give you a shoot list to work from?

This is your day and we are here to capture your day and those moments most important to you. Yes, you absolutely have input in the direction of the photos and I welcome a shoot list should you choose to provide me with one. Again we always provide a list of the traditional photos and ask that you remove and add those shots you want us to take for you.

4. Who will be shooting my wedding?

My husband and myself are the only photographers at our studio. I am the primary photographer and will be the one shooting the majority of your wedding with my husband either assisting me or shooting as the second photographer.

5. How many times have you worked specifically as a wedding photographer? What were the size and formality of the weddings?

We have shoot between 3-5 weddings at this point in our career, as we just started taking on weddings recently. We have shot everything from the small, informal and nontraditional wedding to the very large, traditional and formal weddings. We fit and adapt to all situations quite well.

6. How many other events will you be photographing?

We only book one wedding or event per weekend.

7. What kind of equipment will you bring? How intrusive will the equipment be?

We limit the amount of equipment we bring to our cameras and monopods. There should be no intrusion of our equipment.

8. Do you offer a CD of the entire wedding?

I offer high resolution retouched photos on CD with each of our wedding packages. If you would prefer to have all the photos from your wedding on CD I am open to discussing this option with you. A CD with all the wedding images and retouching is also an option.

9. Are you a member of any associations or groups specific to the industry?

I am a member of Professional Photographers of California (PPC) and Professional Photographers of America (PPA).

10. What type of camera do you use?

I use and prefer the Canon cameras and currently use a Canon 40D EOS.

11. Do you use an assistant? Is there an extra charge for this?

My husband is my assistant unless he is shooting as the second photographer for me. There is no extra charge.

12. Will there be back up equipment available? What happens if the photographer becomes ill?

Yes we do have backup equipment, in case of any malfunctions or mishaps. Should I become ill my husband will be available to take over for me and shoot the wedding.

13. Can other people take photos while you are taking photos?

I do not mind if other people take photos while I am taking photos as long as I am not hindered in doing my job. Sometimes having others taking photos at the same time can lengthen the time you spend taking photos.

14. Should my even last longer than scheduled, will you stay? What is the extra charge?

Yes will we stay should your event run longer than planned – it is important that we capture the moments you want. There is a $50 per hour per photographer charge for each hour we stay over.

15. What attire will you wear?

We wear black slacks, black dress shoes, and white collared t shirts.

16. How long after the event will proofs be ready?

Proofs are ready for viewing, either online or on proof CD, one week after the event.

17. Do you correct our photos?

Yes basic color correction and cropping are provided before proof viewing. Retouching is not provided for proof viewing; retouching is only provided for those photos you choose for your package, etc.
